Some days I ask myself that question. "What am I doing?" But then I ask my husband a similar question. "What are you doing?". He just laugh's and say's "I don't know." Makes me feel good when he does not know what he is doing. he don't even have Graves' Disease, lol Some days we just need to laugh at ourselves ...or better yet somebody else. Not to be mean but to lighten up. I am a great believer in laughter. It has pulled me through some real hard times. My children and my grandchildren are my smiles and my laughter. But, I have to admit my great granddaughter, who just turned 2 is the funniest of the lot. She comes to visit and I am just amazed at the stuff she comes up with. I have a grandson who is now 9. He did not know me before my Graves' Disease but his older brother who is 13 remembers and saw me change. We have nice little talks about it and he gives me some in site into what others see. These two boys are my biggest cheer leaders and have helped me so much. From the in site to the acceptance to the laughter and smiles they give me. I Thank God every day for them. My Isidro, the 9 year old , as I said he has only known me with my Graves' and my TED. He was use to my ugly eyes, black eyes, skinny, fat, mood swings, many sun glasses, avoiding people and just acting strange. To him I am just his Nana. I think I made him silly and he has made me silly. He teaches me silly words and has my Great grandson Jayden doing the same now. After years of putting up with TED, I was able to put on make up one day. Isidro was 5. My granddaughter Nikki had to put it on for me as I could not see well enough in the mirror to make it straight. She said I looked more my old self. Isidro took one look at me and said "Nana, what did you do your face, you look funny. Take it off. I don't like it!" Do you know how good that made me feel? Since then I very rarely wear make up. And for sure not when he is around . He still thinks it makes me look funny. Everybody else thinks it helps to make me look like the old me. But, he did not know the old me. He knows the "Ugly" me...and he likes it. When he wanted to outside to play and my eyes hurt from the sun and the breeze, he went and got two pairs of his swimming goggles. He put on one pair and gave me the other. He said "Nana, WE need to cover our eyes to go out side". His brother Esai was game and we all three wore our goggles from then on in the yard. Nothing strange in that to us. See us on my face book with our Goggles
